LAHORE: Former West Indies batting great and mentor of Quetta Gladiators, Sir Vivian Richards, has lauded pacer Mohammad Amir ahead of season nine of the Pakistan Super League (PSL).
Richards expects Amir, who was picked in the PSL Draft by Quetta after the left-armer left Karachi Kings, to do well in PSL 9.
“I have always praised Mohammad Amir and I’m happy to see him play for Quetta Gladiators,” Richards said while speaking to local media on Saturday.
“Amir will be a classy inclusion for Quetta. I don’t know if Amir will have pace similar to Naseem Shah but we are happy that an experienced player is part of the side,” he added.
He also hoped that Quetta will do well this season after failing to impress during the last few seasons.
“Quetta has not been able to do well over the past few years which is why the changes could be good for the side. I think we have formed a good team for PSL 9,” he said.
Richards also urged Sarfaraz Ahmed, who was replaced as captain by Rilee Rossouw, to impress with the bat during PSL 9.
“I’m a big fan of Sarfaraz Ahmed. I’m sure the appointment of a new captain will take the pressure off Sarfaraz. I have asked him to prove his worth with the bat in PSL 9,” he said.
Quetta will play their first match in PSL 9 against Peshawar Zalmi tomorrow in Lahore.
